First Fermi Cards to be GTX 480 and GTX 470

The first Fermi cards to be released are now set to be named the GeForce GTX 480 and the GeForce GTX 470. Naturally, the 480 (being the bigger number) is the beefier GPU and is therefore more expensive. It is now also known that the 300 series branding is reserved for Nvidia’s new DirectX 10.1 chips hence the 480 and 470 instead.

Musking haven’t kept it a secret that they are testing out the overclocking capabilities of their new product so we can expect an overclocked edition of the card to be released soon too.

Intel has released a document which effectively states if you sell nVidia’s Ion chipset, you will feel the consequences – of course Intel doesn’t want to help nVidia sell itss chipset and this is clear proof.
