ATI 5870×2 has huge TDP of 376W

The most expensive card in the new 5 series DirectX 11 ATI graphics cards, the 5870×2, appears to produce a massive amount of heat proving to make it very hard to cool effectively. The TDP is set at a massive 376W and although ATI are working on resolving the heat issues, a drop in speed for the GPUs seem inevitable to drop the heat levels down.

AMD have released the specifications on their new 5 series graphics cards. Using the RV870, it’s not surprising that the middle card has been named the Radeon HD 5870. The chip works at 825MHz with 1600 shaders double that of the RV770 and perhaps indicating a speed of double the older chip.
