Upon discovering that a 27 year old prison officer has 13 criminal friends on the social networking site Facebook, he was sacked.
Nathan Singh, who worked at HMP Leicester, has some quite colorful among his Facebook friends, including murderers, thieves and drug dealers, scum of the world basically.
During a disciplinary hearing, Singh said he knew the lot from school or football games. “Sometimes when I logged on to my Facebook site there would be twenty-odd friends requests and I just accepted them,” said Singh “Sometimes I didn’t even check them. I realise now it might have been naïve in the job I do.”
