Right before Christmas, AMD has revealed its new “Tahiti” Radeon HD 7970 graphics card for desktop computers. It’s based on a 28-nanometer manufacturing process and according to AMD, the fastest GPU ever. It will serve as a flagship video card for AMD and is also the first card to support Direct3D 11.1.
Specifications include a 925MHz clock speed, 384bit GDDR5 memory clocked at 1.375GHz, 8 ROP partitions and an amazing 3W idle power consumption. MSRP is set at $550 with a launch date of January 9.
