Intel, content with its transition to new processes and enjoying the success of its P1266 Intel plans to introduce yet another smaller process – the 16nm.
Since Intel will do its best to continue its tick-tock strategy to bring a brand new core every odd year and a smaller, yet derived one every even year, with this in mind you can expect P1270 process and 22nm products in 2011. Intel has already revealed this plan publicly and plans to stick with it.
Since this is not enough and Intel wants to keep winning, it plans to introduce P1272 and 16nm CPUs in 2013 and probably 11nm in 2015 and so on. One thing is certain, Intel’s roadmap and execution in the last few years has been delivered with deadly efficiency.

2013 to see 16nm CPU from Intel

Why not make 16nm processors straight away? And not make people buy new computers and throw away old ones and destroy our planet? – suuurely, they want to squeeze every single penny from you.
I’m not gonna upgrade my 65nm stuff until 16nm comes out. Certainly not every year and not every two years.
To Hippo’s question of >Why not make 16nm processors straight away?
That is because anyone form physics or electrical engineering background knows very well that it is extremely difficult to make these highly advanced and sophisticated technologies to work the way Intel makes them work in their microprocessors. 16nm means 160 atoms Dude!!!…do you imagine how advanced science we are talking about here??? And you want them to do it in 1 year. lol. Lot of stuff that Intel does is already next to impossible technologically and to expect them to do it ahead of their technological road-map would be irrational and ridiculous.
